Chile: Last year, there were 65 cases of ISA virus in Chile. All of them corresponding to the avirulent non-pathogenic HPR0 strain. The last outbreak of the virulent HPR7 strain in the country occurred in October 2010.
There was one diagnose of a different strain (HPR2) in the Region of Aysén within the period. However, since it was diagnosed positive in October 2011 until all fish were harvested in August 2012, no clinical sign or mortality caused by this disease was observed.
According to the Sanitary Report 2012 published by the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture, 30 cases of ISA-HPR0 were reported in the Region of Los Lagos in 2012, representing 46.15 percent of the total; 29 cases were reported in the Region of Aysén (44.62 percent); and 6 cases in the Region of Magallanes (9.23 percent).
Likewise, March was the month with the highest incidence of the disease, with 11 cases which representing 17 percent of all diagnoses in 2012.
